Welcome everyone!
I'm going to try really hard to update this at least weekly over the summer.
For those of you who don't know, I'm going to be in Brooklyn, NY at SUNY Downstate all summer. I have an internship with the Residence Life department there. They're setting me up with an apartment and paying me. Plus, it's a great opportunity to build my resume for grad school.
Again, if you don't know, I'm looking into going to graduate school for Higher Education or Student Affairs. Basically, I want to work at a college. It's a great set up for an entry position, especially in housing.
So, I've been in Texas for about a week now with my family. I was lucky to make it here with all my luggage, thanks to my brother. It was a very interesting day and a looooong story. I'm willing to tell it upon request. It's weird being right back in the same neighborhood I lived in the last time we lived here, but nice to kinda know my way around. I got to see one of my best friends for two days (Emily), which is WAY more than the last time I was here.
Something I'm REALLY excited about while I'm in Texas... CENTRAL MARKET! For my fellowMaconites it's like Fresh Market on steroids. I'm going on Monday to entertain myself for a few hours. I'm getting bored at home during the week, even with Mom in the house. She works from home, so 7:30-4 is work for her... not fun times. We did go shopping, so that was nice.
So... concerns that I have about being in Brooklyn:
- Not knowing people
- Getting lost (although, I have a decent sense of direction)
- Not getting to know the music scene that's out there
That's about it. Other than that I am SO ready for a change. It's a much needed change in pace and scenery for me.
